The target audience of my film trailer will be aged 16-24, which is an age were people are becoming adults and therefore are becoming more mature. With this age being my target age then I will be aiming my production at the S.E.G group 'E' as this age group will be either still in education or only just starting out in their job therefore won't have a lot of disposable income.
I posted polls on my blog to find out who my target audience will be, and the results I got are as follows; The majority of answers for gender were Male with 66% and female received 33%, on the poll for age 16-24 received 66% of the vote with the other 33% going to 35+ which means I am going to have to incorporate a theme which will be suited for both age groups however aim it at the majority vote of 16-24. Media and Journalism was the most studied subject from the subjects studied poll, which therefore shows that I will be able to put media techniques within the trailer which will be appreciated by others, as this was a multiple choice poll other subjects chosen included Drama and performing arts with 33% and Sports and science with 16%. When I asked which choice of genre was favoured the most picked genre was Comedy with 50% of the vote which therefore means the audience will want elements of comedy within the film trailer, other genres picked include Thriller at 33% and Romance with 16%. When I asked about how these people watched films I got results showing that both Cinema and At home with DVD's and Blu-rays received 83% and in a close second was on TV such as Sky, BBC and ITV which had 66% of the vote and via download had 16% of the vote, this poll was again a multiple choice one, hence the percentages going over 100%, this poll however shows that people will see my trailer advertised in the cinema and on TV so I could therefore focus my marketing there. When I asked what aspect of a film they enjoyed most 50% responded with the narrative/storyline which means that whilst people like elements of comedy within the film they also want a good narrative which can be hard to find a good mix of them so I will have to try and produce something that allows the mix to be good enough so that people want to see the film. 33% of the respondents favourited the characters the most within the film, so I shall therefore have to produce a character that is easily taken to, so the audience can get emotionally attached. My final question was about social class and 50% of respondents said they were in the 'E' category which means they are either students or don't have a lot of disposable income. 33% said they were in the 'B' category and 16% said they were in the 'C1' category, this shows that some of my audience will be able to spend money and not worry about it E.G. they will be able to go see it at the cinema and buy the DVD.
